Thursday night football hard on Ellsworth County teams

LITTLE RIVER --- The Central Plains Oilers lost a heart-breaker to Little River by a 4-pont margin--38-34--in a district game in Little River.

The evenly matched teams fought hard all night, with the final outcome up in the air until the final minute of the contest.

Quarterback Bryce Steiner did a great job keeping the Oilers in the  football game. A lot of the young Oilers showed a lot of promise for the future of the club.

The loss ended the season for the Oilers.

GYPSUM --- The Southeast of Saline Trojans handed the Ellsworth Bearcats a 28-7 defeat in Gypsum. The 'Cats will play the Trojans of Beloit at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 in Beloit in the first round of the 3A State Football Tournament.

WILSON --- Victoria overpowered the Wilson Dragons 56-8 in the season finale at Lang Memorial Field in Wilson.

Creighton Reeves will compete in the 1A State Cross Country meet at noon, Saturday in Wamego.

The Lady Dragons return to the road, this time traveling to the 1A Division II Volleyball Tournament in Hays. Pool play begins at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Fort Hays State University.
