Berneita Irene Snyder

Berneita Snyder, 78, died Oct. 19, 2012 at Pacifica Encore Senior Village in Portland, Ore.
Berneita Irene Nienke was born April 10, 1934 in Ellsworth, Kan. to Rudolph and Hulda (Haase) Nienke. After growing up in Ellsworth and graduating from Ellsworth High School, Berneita attended Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina, Kan. where she earned her Associate’s Degree.
On Jan. 16, 1955 she married Laurence Ralph Snyder in Ellsworth. Together they owned Larry’s One Hour Martinizing for 30 years until moving to Gresham in September of 1974 where Berneita worked at Multnomah Education Service District as an accountant and reception clerk until she retired.
She loved crocheting, gardening, baking, sewing and going to the beach. She also enjoyed being a braille worker at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Gresham where she helped produce Bibles for the blind. Her favorite way to spend her time was with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Leonard.
Berneita is survived by daughters, Charleen Treanor of Sandy, Ore. and Kathleen Davis of Gig Harbor, Wash.,  son, L. Craig of Maple Valley, Wash., sisters, Betty Ann Pflughoeft Loveland, Colo., Doris Peterman of Milaca, Minn., Edith Kohls of Salina, Kan., Hulda Bricker of Ellsworth, Velma Perez of Gypsum, Kan. and Lois Holtz of Salina. She also has eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild due in May.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ellsworth.
Sandy Funeral Home, Sandy, Ore., was in charge of arrangements.
