Monday’s Amos Morris tournament results

RUSSELL --- The Lady Bearcats of Ellsworth, infamous for missing easy layups, discovered the knack Monday night and made bunny after bunny in the third quarter to decimate Phillipsburg 48-32 in first round action of the Amos Morris Tournament in Russell.

It was the best performance by a Lady Bearcat basketball team in seven years.

However, on the boys’ side, Phillipsburg was far too tall, fast and powerful for the young Bearcats and head Panther coach Keith Sides began to rotate his junior varsity into the game early in the second quarter as Phillipsburg won pulling away by a score of 71-28.

Central Plains takes on Ell-Saline at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at the middle school in Russell, with the Lady Oilers hitting the with the boys’ game following at about 7:15 p.m.


TESCOTT --- Karlie Steinle led the Lady Dragons with 24 points and seven rebounds as Wilson eviscerated Rock Hills by a score of 56-15 in the annual basketball tournament in Tescott.

The Wilson Dragons lost a close game to a quality Rock Hills team by a score of 49-42.
