Harold Dean Haugaard

Harold Dean Haugaard, 82, of Spanaway, Wash., died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, in Washington. 
He was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Ellsworth County, to Harold I. and Caroline (Mog) Haugaard. As a young man, he worked at Lambert Lumber Co., Ellsworth, and had a band called “Harold’s Blue Notes,” which also had as members Colleen McMillen, Steve Doubrava, Nick Slechta, Sam Peppiatt, “Hawk” Allen and Bill Clark.  He served 22 years in the U. S. Army, including two tours in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Spanaway; three sons:  Pastor Harold I. Haugaard, Lucas, Bob Haugaard, Ellsworth, and Tom Haugaard, Kanopolis; three daughters: Debbie Fenstermaker, McPherson, Angel Walker, Tacoma, Wash., and Crystal Haugaard, Spanaway, Wash.; two half-brothers, Vernon Mock, Ore. and Phillip Haugaard, Ill.; one half-sister, Carol (Vickers) Dauer and her husband, Warren, Brookville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
   A military funeral and burial was conducted Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in the Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash.
