ELLSWORTH --- The Lady ‘Cats were far too powerful for Larned, crushing the Lady Indians in a 58-21 Homecoming win in Ellsworth.

Conditioning was a factor in the game, as Larned tried to wear the Lady ‘Cats down with countless substitutions--but the strategy backfired as Ellsworth continued to own the floor while the Lady Indians were gasping for air.

The Bearcats, after a nice first quarter of basketball, lost the lead and couldn’t regain it as the Indians won the Homecoming game 54-43.

KINSLEY --- The fifth-ranked 2A Lady Oilers found themselves down by a point by the end of the first quarter, then went on a 29-7 run in the second period on their way to a 62-37 win over the Lady Coyotes in Kinsley.

Central Plains continues to improve, defeating  the Coyotes  by a score of 60-39.

MANKATO --- Wilson’s Karlie Steinle was just two thefts away from her second triple-double of the season, as the third-ranked 1A Division II Lady Dragons devoured the Lady Grizzlies 68-24 in Mankato.

A powerful Rock Hills team beat the Dragons 46-22 in the boys’ game.

The Bearcat grapplers competed in the 3A-2A-1A regional wrestling tournament in Garden Plain. Wrestling continues at 11 a.m.

Read about the games in the Feb. 21 edition of the I-R.
