LINCOLN — The third-ranked 1A Division I Lady Bulldogs defeated the ninth-ranked 1A Division II Lady Dragons of Wilson 59-44 in the Northern Plains League tournament Friday in Lincoln. Three-ball shooting by the Lady Bulldogs in the first half of the game was the key to the win.

The Lady Dragons will play for third place at 3 p.m. Friday at the high school in Lincoln.

The Dragons lost a 42-28 boys basketball game in the consolation bracket to Southern Cloud. Wilson will play in the seventh place game at 3 p.m. Friday at the grade school in Lincoln.

HOISINGTON — Both Ellsworth teams were idle Tuesday night in the Hoisington Winter Jam tournament.

The Bearcats will face Hoisington in the consolation bracket at 8:15 p.m. Thursday in Hoisington. The Lady ‘Cats will play LaCrosse in the consolation bracket on the girls’ side at 3 p.m. Thursday in Hoisington.

ST. JOHN — The second-ranked 2A Oilers will play Ness City at 8:15 Thursday at St. John in the St. John’s Lions Club Mid-Winter Classic basketball tournament.

The Lady Oilers are idle this week, preparing for the Barton County Community College’s Hilltop Hoops Classic. They will meet Ness City at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 in Great Bend.
