Friday night sub-State roundball roundup

GREENSBURG --- The third-ranked 2A Central Plains Oilers (18-3) cut down the South Central Timber wolves, 51-42 in the semi-finals game of the Kiowa County sub-State tournament in Greensburg.

The Oilers will meet the top-ranked and undefeated Tigers of St. John-Hudson (20-0). It will be the fourth meeting of the basketball powerhouses at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, in Greensburg.

The second-ranked and undefeated Lady Oilers (20-0) will meet seventh-ranked Ellinwood (17-4) for the second time this season. At 6 p.m. in Greensburg.

GREAT BEND --- The Lady Kats of Chase played a tough first quarter against Wilson, but the Lady Dragons took control of the game in the second quarter and won by a score of 46-37 at the 1A Division II Otis-Bison sub-State tournament at Barton Community College in Great Bend.

The Lady Dragons (15-5) will play (9-12) Otis-Bison at 6 p.m. Saturday at BCC in Great Bend.

The Lady Cougars are an improved team from the beginning of the season and have a lot talent. The Lady Dragons beat Otis-Bison in December.

HOISINGTON --- The Lady Lions of Minneapolis (15-7) ended Ellsworth’s dreams of a state berth by a score of 51-42, at the Activity Center in Hoisington. It was an exciting game of basketball.

It was the first back-to-back winning seasons for the Lady ‘Cats in a long time.Minneapolis will play a good Lyons (13-8) at at the Activity Center in Hoisington.
