William H. Fleming Sr.

William H. Fleming, Sr., 88, passed away Friday, May 2, in Ellsworth.

He was born July 3, 1925 in Ellsworth County to Hazen L. and Edith (Bailey) Fleming. William was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth County, where he was retired from Independent Salt Co., a farmer, and member of the Kanopolis United Methodist Church. He served his country overseas during WWII in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 329, Kanopolis, and VFW Post 6485, Ellsworth.

William married Phyllis Jean Hoss in Hays in 1947. She preceded him in death in 2003. He married Mary Jon White in Salina in 2004. She preceded him in death in 2013. He was also preceded in death by brothers, David and Edward Lynn; step-daughter, Lee Ann Beagley; and son-in-law, Lynn Mangels.

William is survived by son, Bill Fleming Jr. (Barb) of Kanopolis; daughters, Diane Mangels of Parker, Colo. and Barb Holm (Jeff) of Ellsworth; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild; step-son, Bill White (Barb) of Wichita; step-son-in-law, Larry Beagley of Ellsworth; four step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Lacey of Salina and Mary Alice Cravens of Hays.

Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Kanopolis United Methodist Church with burial following in the Buckeye Cemetery.
