Counterfeit bills passed in Ellsworth

Authorities warned Ellsworth County businesses Friday to be on the lookout for counterfeit $20 bills. Five such bills have been passed at local businesses this past week.

Ellsworth Police Chief Dave Smith said the counterfeit bills were discovered by bank employees after the businesses turned in their deposits. Affected businesses were Dairy Queen, Dollar General and Finke's Retail Liquor. Three of the reports came Friday.

Smith said authorities have no suspects.
