At least seven units of the Ellsworth Fire Department responded to a house fire south of Ellsworth Monday at 3:15 p.m. afternoon.
The home of Mike and Tonne Soukup, located one-and-half miles west of Kansas Highway 14 on O Ave south of Ellsworth, was a total loss despite the quick response of the Ellsworth Fire Department. The fire was extinguished by 4:15 p.m.
No one was home at the time of the blaze and no one was injured in the fire. Ellsworth County Sherriff Tracy Ploutz said that the cause of the fire was undetermined and was under investigation.
Ellsworth County EMS were called to the scene to assist firefighters in case of heat exhaustion.
