The 2012 winter wheat harvest was a little better than average overall in Ellsworth County, and better than some had expected.
“At harvest time, it was better than expected,” said Larry Sheridan, manager of the Ellsworth Coop. “It was pretty even throughout the county. There was good wheat and bad wheat at every elevator.
“I think that we averaged in the 40s (bushels per acres). I’ve heard as low as 15 and as high as 60 bushels per acre,” he said. “It was good.”
