Residents of northeast Ellsworth and the countryside near the junction of Kansas Highways 140 and 156 were on alert Wednesday morning after Kansas Highway Patrol troopers launched an air and land search for an escaped suspect.

The suspect was captured before noon in Ellsworth.

Rural residents whose buildings were searched to make sure the suspect wasn't hiding there said they were told the suspect was part of a drug bust conducted by troopers.
