Federal Reserve official to be chamber speaker

Esther L. George, president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, is this year’s speaker at the 65th annual meeting of the Ells-worth-Kanopolis Chamber of Commerce.
The event will be Thursday, Jan. 17, at Ellsworth’s American Legion building, with a reception at 6 p.m., a dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting at 7:15 p.m.
Jeanne Haase, who retired this year as owner and operator of Precious Pals Pre-School, will be recognized as the chamber’s “Citizen of the Year.”
Also recognized will be incoming and outgoing chamber board members. Retiring will be John Kasper, Megan Muchow and Margaret Bourne. New members are Lindsey Kepka, Patrick Hoffman and Julia Dufon.
Tickets are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Reservations are due by Jan. 10 with chamber director Carol Kratzer, (785) 472-4071.
George, a native of Missouri, joined the bank in 1982 and was appointed to the official staff in 1995. She had held various leadership positions, including her current appointment since Oct. 1, 2011.
