ECMC restricts vistors because of flu

POSTED: January 17, 2014 2:54 p.m.

A recent upswing of confirmed flu cases in Ellsworth County resulted in Ellsworth County Medical Center restricting visitors to the hospital Friday morning.
“We request that no children and also no one with any symptoms of illness come visit the hospital,” said Sue Wolf, the hospital’s infection prevention and occupational health nurse.
“Basically, only family needs to visit. Our patients are more vulnerable, and we don’t want them getting anything.”
Wolf said the restrictions will remain in place until hospital officials start seeing a decrease in respiratory illnesses.
Those with flu-like symptoms can still come to the emergency room for treatment, or make an appointment with the Rural Health Clinic, she said.
