ELLSWORTH --- The Lady Bearcats won their third game of the season Tuesday night as they came back from a 9-point deficit to take the lead early in the fourth quarter, defeating the Lady Broncos of Russell 45-38. Keys to the win were the 3-ball shooting of the Lady ‘Cats and good team play.

The Broncos were simply no match for the Bearcats as Ellsworth had a 20-point lead early in the third quarter of play as the ‘Cats won 63-29. Good rebounding and conditioning help Ellsworth pull away late in the game.

Ellsworth is on the road Friday night when both teams travel to Belleville to play North Central Activity Association games against Republic County. The Lady ‘Cats will play at 6 p.m. and the Bearcats will meet the eighth-ranked 2A Buffaloes at 7 p.m.

HOISINGTON --- The Lady Cardinals of Hoisington defeated the Lady Oilers of Central Plains 43-34 at Hoisington.

The score for the Oilers/Cardinals boys’ basketball game was not available at post time.

Central Plains will travel to Macksville Friday. The Lady Oilers will play at 6 p.m. and the Oilers will meet the sixth-ranked 1A Division I Mustangs at 7 p.m.

Wilson was idle Tuesday. The ninth-ranked 1A Division II Dragons will meet the Trojans of Tescott at 7 p.m. Friday in Tescott. The second-ranked Lady Dragons will play the Lady Trojans at 6 p.m.
