Thursday night tournament tales

HOISINGTON --- The Lady ‘Cats defeated Victoria by a score of 48-34 in the consolation bracket of the Cardinal Winter Jam tournament in Hoisington.

ST. JOHN --- The fifth-ranked 1A Division I Macksville Mustangs downed the Oilers by a score of 70-55 in the St. John’s Lions Club Mid-Winter Basketball tournament in St. John.

The Mustangs never broke their stride after grabbing the lead late in the first quarter, galloping to the win with the 3-ball shooting of Jorge Baray. Central Plains did not give up and played four hard quarters of basketball.
