Fall sports season begins

Oilers kick football season off with a win

CLAFLIN—The Central Plains Oilers football team defeated Stafford 38-8 in Claflin Friday in the 2012 season kick-off.

LARNED—The Bearcats of Ellsworth and the Indians of Larned battled with two new head coaches making their debut in Larned with the Indians coming out on top in a shoot-out, 27-25.

WILSON—The Chase Kats defeated the Wilson Dragons in a high-scoring battle by a score of 64-50.

In volleyball, the Lady ‘Cats of Ellsworth lost a match to Sterling in three games but whipped Ellinwood in two games Thursday in Ellsworth to start the season with a 4-2 record.

In cross country news, Wilson’s Creighton Reeves placed second at the always tough Lincoln Invitation meet Thursday in Lincoln.
