WILSON --- Wilson easily won 61-25 against an ailing Lady Mustangs team in Wilson.

Sylvan-Lucas Unified  faced  third-ranked 1A Division II Wilson without two starters and the Lady Dragons owned the court early in the second quarter.

The Lady Mustangs fought all the way, but Wilson played a good game of basketball with a lot of girls in double digits.

The boys’ game was everything that Wilson and Sylvan-Lucas Unified basketball fans expect from the two teams --- an exciting double-overtime match as the Mustangs out-paced the Dragons 72-67.

Fouls plagued the Dragons early in the third quarter and late in the second overtime period.

GREAT BEND --- The fifth-ranked 2A Lady Oilers of Central Plains were defeated, 66-56, in the final minutes of the fourth quarter by second-ranked 2A Sterling in the championship match of the Hilltop Hoops Classic basketball tournament at Barton Community College in Great Bend.

This was the inaugural year for the girls’ round-robin tournament  at BCC.

HOISINGTON --- The results of the Bearcat wrestling team at the Hoisington round-robin tournament were not available at post-time.

Catch up with the grapplers and read about the games in the Jan. 31 edition of the I-R.
