Three Bearcat Grapplers to State tournament

GARDEN PLAIN --- Ty Nienke, Ellsworth’s 106-pound grappler, won the 3A-2A-1A Regional meet Saturday in Garden Plain.

Bearcat grappler 135-pound  Zach Martin placed third and Mo Rojas placed fourth in the 145-pound division.

Tristan Ptacek, at the 152-pound slot and Liam Eck, at the 170-pound bracket both won pins in Saturday’s wrestling.

The ‘Cats wrestled hard as the eight-man squad placed seventh out of 23 teams, scoring 60 points. Hoisington, who has a huge team this season, won the meet with 160.5 points, followed by Lyons with 111.
