SYLVAN GROVE — The Lady Dragons were rusty from two-week, storm-induced layoff in the first quarter, but got into sync mid-way through the second stanza to roll to a 69-46 rout of Otis-Bison Lady Cougars in the Sylvan-Lucas Unified 1A Division II sub-state tournament in Sylvan Grove.

Senior Karlie Steinle grabbed her 10th double-double of the season in the game and the deep Wilson bench once again saw a lot of action.

The Lady Dragons will face McPherson-Elyria Christian in the final round at 6 p.m., Saturday in Sylvan Grove. McPherson-Elyria Christian eked past the Lady Mustangs by a score of 36-25.

The Mustangs of Sylvan-Lucas Unified ended a good season of Wilson Dragon basketball in the boys’ game, winning the second round of the tournament by a score of 61-48.

STERLING — Central Plains struggled in the first quarter, but their mid-court trap stifled the Pratt Skyline Lady Thunderbirds in the second period as the Lady O’s cruised to a 69-46 win.

The Lady O’s will meet a very good Sterling Lady Black Bear team in the final round at 6 p.m. Saturday in Sterling.

The Oilers and the Inman Teutons battled in a low-scoring defensive struggle that wasn’t decided until the final two minutes of the game, but Inman came out on top 33-23 to end a highly successful Central Plains’season for a team mainly comprised of sophomore and freshman talent.

It was a good game of basketball with few fouls.
