WRESTLING

GYPSUM ---  The Bearcat grapplers, ranked10th in the 3A-2A-1A Division, beat North Central Activity Association rivals Southeast of Saline in a Friday night dual by six points at Southeast of Saline.

The ‘Cats beat Thomas More Prep of Hays, 70-6, Thursday in Hays.

BASKETBALL

ELLSWORTH --- The Lady ‘Cats came from behind in the fourth quarter and forced an overtime period to defeat a solid Lyons girls’ basketball team, 51-42, Friday in the Bearcat Den in Ellsworth.

Lady ‘Cat Halle Connally sank two free throws with 35 seconds on the clock in regulation play to tie the game at 42-42. Ellsworth pulled ahead with 2:55 on the clock in the overtime by sinking three of four technical penalty shots.

On the boys side, the Bearcats played a good first three quarters of basketball before the Lions pulled way early in the fourth quarter to defeat Ellsworth 64-42.

CLAFLIN --- The Central Plains Oilers stunned Hoisington in the Oilerdome Friday, plucking the Cardinals 79-33. The Oilers had a 55-14 lead at halftime.

The Lady O’s demolished Hoisington by a score of 60-30.

OTIS --- The sixth-ranked 1A Division II Lady Dragons of Wilson defanged the Lady Cougars of Otis-Bison 52-34 Friday in Otis.
The Dragons lost the basketball game on the boys’ side by a score of 61-32.
