GREAT BEND --- What happens what a team comprised of underclassmen and junior high school girls meets the mighty third-ranked 2A Lady Oilers of Central Plains on the hardwood?

A lot of ball passing on the part of  Central Plains, as the Lady O’s sailed to a 73-8 win over the Ark City Christian Academy Lady Lions, in the second round of the Hilltop Hoops Classic at Barton Community College.

It could have easily been the highest scoring game in Kansas girls’ basketball history, but the Lady O’s played a classy game against an inferior team, eating up the clock and restraining themselves from their usual brand of fast-paced, physical basketball.

Central Plains passed the ball as many as 13 times before taking a shot. Every girl on the team saw a lot of playing time, as head coach Pat Stiles kept rotating his players en masse, throughout the game.

The Lady Lions played as hard as they could and never gave up.

The Lady O’s will meet a talented Ell-Saline team at 8 p.m. Friday in the championship match at BCC in Great Bend.
