TWO ELLSWORTH COUNTY TEAMS ADVANCE

GREAT BEND --- The Lady Dragons of Wilson will repeat the trip to the 1A Division II State basketball tournament after defeating Otis-Bison, 58-49, Saturday at Barton Community College in Great Bend.

Three Lady Dragons --- Adrianna Florke, Jenna Shelton and Shania Steinike --- were in double-digits in the win.

Wilson will play in the 1A Division II State basketball tournament March 13-15 at Gross Memorial Stadium in Hays.

GREENSBURG ---  The second-ranked and undefeated Lady Oilers of Central Plains are still undefeated, beating Ellinwood by a score of 60-44, Saturday in Greensburg.

The Lady Eagles managed to grab a small lead in the second quarter, but the press of the Lady O’s was too formidable and Central Plains dominated the second half of play.

The Lady O’s will compete at the 2A State basketball tournament March 13-15 at Manhattan.

The Oilers and Tigers of St. John-Hudson battled for four quarters of basketball in the boys’ championship match, but the Tigers won by a score of 54-45  to end the Central Plains basketball season.

It was a game between two powerful and disciplined teams with the lead changing several time and great plays on both sides of the ball.

The Tigers were the only team to beat the Oilers this season, handing them all four of their losses.
