Holyrood considers curfew

POSTED: February 17, 2012 7:00 a.m.

The Holyrood City Council is seeking public comment concerning the proposed curfew ordinance that the council has been pondering since June of 2011.
The ordinance was first proposed when graffiti began to appear around Holyrood during the tenure of Holyrood police chief Bo Turner. The ordinance was then sent to Holyrood attorney Carey Hipp. After Turner’s resignation current Holyrood police chief Gene Whitey was hired and the council decided to table the ordinance as Whitey attended police training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in Yoder.
The ordinance states that minors under the age of 18 should not be roaming the streets of Holyrood between the hours of 11 p.m.-6 a.m. weekdays and 12 a.m.-6 a.m. weekends.
