Wilson receives housing grant
Wilson is one of four Kansas communities to receive a community development block grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce for housing rehabilitation and demolition.
In an announcement this past week, the state said Wilson will receive $400,000 to help rehabilitate 14 homes and demolish seven structures.
Other communities to receive grants were: Clyde, $377,000; Concordia, $341,800; and Glen Elder, $400,000.
The more than $1.5 million in federal grant money is expected to rehabilitate a total of about 55 properties and demolish 15 others.
Each grant carries a $2,000 local match.
