The mercury soared Saturday, but participants at Wilson's 51st annual After Harvest Czech Festival managed to stay cool for the most part.
As always, the festival attracted its share of politicians. State Sen. Jay Emler, R-Lindsborg, and Kansas Rep. Steven Johnson participated in a legislative coffee before Saturday's morning parade. Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback rode in the parade, in a car driven by Wilson mayor David Criswell, and later attended the Czech dinner at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church parish hall.
Pick up a copy of the Aug. 4 edition of the Ellsworth County I-R for much more on the Czech Festival.
