German wedding turns into bigger adventure for Wagners

Jim and Diane Wagner of Wilson recently returned from a five-week trip to Europe, where Pastor Jim ended up preaching at the church where Martin Luther is buried.

A trip to a friend’s wedding in Germany turned into an even bigger adventure for Pastor Jim and Sister Diane Wagner of Wilson’s Immanuel Lutheran Church.
The couple originally traveled to Germany to participate in the wedding of a former exchange student, Bjorn Frese, who lives in Hamburg. Frese stayed with a host family in Sylvan Grove about 20 years ago and attended Jim Wagner’s church, Gloria Dei Lutheran at Lucas.
“He has remained in very close relationship with his host family and with the church over the past 20 years,” Pastor Jim said.
