Hazel M. Rathbun

Hazel M. Rathbun, 97, died Dec. 7, 2012 in Ellsworth. She was born July 15, 1915, in Rice County, to Frank and Julia (Peverly) Orm. She was a homemaker, school cook at Thomas and Geneseo Schools, a nurse’s aide at Good Samaritan in Ellsworth, a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth and current member of the Geneseo United Methodist Church. 
On July 31, 1935 she married Delbert Rathbun. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1993. Also preceding her was her foster daughter, Evelyn Schalchenberg, two sisters, Velma Crane and Eunice Hunter.
She is survived by her son, Tom Rathbun of Geneseo; daughter, Terrie Rietbrock of Culver; sister, Esther Morey of Lyons; and 56 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at Parsons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Geneseo United Methodist Church with burial following in the Geneseo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Assoc., c/o the funeral home, Box 45, Ellsworth, Ks. 67439.
