Rachel Elizabeth (Borecky) Smith died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Wichita. Mrs. Smith was born May 30, 1920, in Ellsworth County to Edward and Rachel Heinze Borecky. She worked for the Midwest Air Procurement District, the Office of the Price Administration and the Internal Revenue Service for more than 35 years, retiring May 2, 1979. Genealogy became her hobby and she researched and prepared several family histories. She married Robert Enos Smith Sept. 27, 1941, at Larned. He died April 11, 1974. She also was preceeded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carol Ann Smith Lyne; a brother, Roy Borecky; a nephew, Ronnie Borecky, and a niece, Elaine Borecky Scoggins. Survivors include two granddaughters, Denise Ann (Mark) Kalmer, Chandler, Ariz., and Julie Kay (Christopher) Jennings, Calgary, Alberta, Canada; two great-grandsons, Keifer Jennings and Quentin Jennings; and many relatives and friends. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Mission Chapel Mausoleum, 3424 E. 21st St., Wichita, Kan. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Old Mission Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the AHSGR Golden Wheat Chapter, 822 N. Cypress Ct., Wichita, Kan. 67206.
