Betty L. Smith

Betty L. Smith, 91, Kanopolis, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, in Salina. She was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Kanopolis, to Bruce and Theresa (Hornischer) Shively.
Betty lived most of her life in Kanopolis as a homemaker and a cook for the Kanopolis schools. She was a member of the Altar Society and the St. Ignatius Catholic Church of Kanopolis.
She married C. Wayne Smith May 30, 1941, in Ellsworth. He preceded her in death in 2004.
Betty is survived by; sons, Dennis Smith of Pocatello, Idaho, Mike Smith of Palm Bay, Fla., Terrill Smith of Ellsworth, and Tim and Kevin Smith both of Salina; daughters, Roxann Newbrey and Debbie Cisneros both of Salina; a brother, Lloyd Shively of Mesa, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Kanopolis with Father Steve Heina officiating.
Closed-casket visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m., both at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Ignatius Catholic Church or the Kay Pogue Hospice Center, in care of Parsons Funeral Home, P.O. Box 45, Ellsworth, Kan. 67439.
