K. Glenn Axelton

K. Glenn Axelton passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013. He was 74.
He was born July 11, 1938 in Randolph to Helen Britt and Karl Axelton. Glenn graduated from Randolph High School in 1956.  Following graduation from Kansas State University in August 1962 with a degree in music education, Glenn was a band director at Centralia High School, Centralia. A talented musician, Glenn played for many years in numerous area bands.
Having worked in various music stores since high school, Glenn opened his own in January, 1983. Glenn’s Music has been a fixture in downtown Manhattan for many years.
Survivors include Glenn’s wife, Bonnie and his eight children: Hjerda McAllister and her husband, Mark; Todd Axelton; Britt Axelton; Kristen Cranston and her husband, David; Jeff Hull and his wife, Tracy; Chris Nelson and her husband, Jim; Shelly Forrest and Candice Marquess and her husband, Shawn; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Karlene.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the K. Glenn Axelton Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home..
