George E. Moore

George E. Moore, 88, died Jan. 16, 2014, in Ellsworth. George was born May 1, 1925, in Kansas City, Mo. to Emmitt M. and Ruth (Drennen) Moore. He was a lifetime military serviceman, serving in the Navy during WWII and in the Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. George was a member of the American Legion and the Masons, Lubbock, Texas.
He married Frances Urbanek Nov. 22, 1947, in Richland, Wash. She preceded him in death March 1, 2012.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Art Lemons, and his sister, Jean Hase.
Survivors include: daughters Valerie Shaw (late husband Kevin), and Kay Kanak (John), both of Ellsworth; son Terry Moore (Judy) of Cypress, Texas; sister Florene Moore; brothers Tom Lemons, Mike Lemons and Archie Lemons; granddaughters Marcy Murphy, Jackie Kanak, Bethany Langston and Katie Kanak; grandson Brian Shaw; and five great-grandchildren.
A joint memorial service for George and his wife Frances will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ellsworth County Cancer Fund, in c/o Parsons Funeral Home, P.O. Box 45, Ellsworth, Kan. 67439.
