James Dean "Jim" Belote

James Dean “Jim” Belote, 44, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Rice County District Hospital in Lyons, as the result of an automobile accident.
Mr. Belote was born March 21, 1969 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Jerry D. and Emma Lou (McNaughton) Belote. A resident of Lyons most of his life, Mr. Belote was a welder for Great Plains of Ellsworth. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Lyons.
Mr. Belote was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Troy Summerset; and a sister, Kelly Dydee.
Survivors are his mother, Emma Lou Belote, Iowa; four brothers, Ben Belote, Lyons; Justin Thiel; Sonny Hunter, Ellsworth; and Jeff Hunter, Temple, Texas; three sisters, Kristina Nelson, Temple, Texas; Tammy Thomton, Iowa; and Sabrina Clark, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Assembly of God Church in Lyons, with the Rev. Larry Schumacher officiating.
Memorials are the James Belote expense fund in care of Birzer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 89, Lyons, Kan. 67554.
