Ellen Joyce 'EJ' Beatty Blythe

Ellen Joyce “EJ” Beatty Blythe, 84, died peacefully Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at her home in Ellsworth. 
She was born Feb 21, 1930, in Ellsworth to Ralph and Hazel (Pangburn) Beatty. Formerly of Colorado Springs, she returned to Ellsworth in 2000 after her retirement.  Ellen was a clerk for the Social Security Administration in Colorado Springs and Kansas City. She was a member of the Holy Apostles Episcopal Church of Ellsworth, a former member of Eastern Star and could often be seen around Ellsworth riding her bicycle.
Survivors include her beloved Dachshunds, Gilsie and Toodles; daughters Debi Blythe of Ellsworth (formerly of Colorado Springs), Deni Lyons of Independence, Mo., and Sue Blythe of Colorado Springs; grandchildren Brandon Liberto, Nathan Lyons, Jason Lyons, Michelle Marquis, Matthew Lyons and Rachael Lyons; great-grandchildren, twins Austin and Joseph Liberto, Jase Lyons and Maiya Lyons; nephews Tony and Tom Szambecki; and niece and goddaughter Bobette Adcock.
She was preceded in death by sisters Vivian Szambecki (Wichita) and Betty Lee Adcock (Honolulu).
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at the Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, Ellsworth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Apostles Episcopal Church, Ellsworth, Angels Care Home Health Care, Russell, or Hospice of Salina, in c/o Parsons Funeral Home, P.O. Box 45, Ellsworth Kan. 67439.
