Eric R. Beran

Eric R. Beran, 50,  died Monday, May 19, 2014, at his home in Odin.
Mr. Beran was born Aug. 15, 1963, at Great Bend to Gerald W. “Jerry” and Elvita (Dolechek) Beran. A long-time Odin resident, he was a pumper for Richlan Drilling and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He also was an active member of the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department and the American Petroleum Institute. He enjoyed farming, golf, fishing and hunting.
He married Kristi Schreiber Aug. 27, 1988, at Great Bend. She survives.
Other survivors include his daughters, Hannah and Sarah, of the home; his parents; five brothers, Robin Beran and his wife, Anne, of Peoria, Ill., Gerald “Jr.” Beran and his wife, Lisa, of Odin, Terry “Tex” Beran and Ada of Russell, Kevin Beran of Odin and Craig Beran and his wife, Michelle, of Odin; a sister, Joy Hertach and her husband, Tim, of Claflin; and a sister-in-heart, Jane Schreiber and her husband, Rick, of Beaver.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Odin, with burial in the church cemetery.
The vigil with a rosary to follow is at 7 p.m. today (Thursday) at the church.  Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today (Thursday) at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Holy Family Cemetery Fund or the Holy Family Catholic Church or Johns Hopkins University to benefit pancreatic cancer research, in care of the funeral home, Box 146, Hoisington, Kan. 67544.
