Avis K. Reed

Avis K. Reed, 96, died July 15, 2014, in Wilson. 
She was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Kanopolis to Wesley and Agnes (Loman) Huggins. A lifetime resident of Ellsworth County, she was a homemaker and member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Kanopolis.
On March 1, 1937, she married George L. Reed in Kanopolis. He preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded by sisters Amelia Henry and Doris Dean and brothers Joe and Austin Huggins.
Survivors include sons Gene (Janicé) Reed of Brighton, Colo., Lynn (Rosa) Reed of Wellington, Nathan (Telma) Reed of Lawrence, Brian Reed of Ellsworth and Rex (Nancy) Reed of Mulvane; daughters Carol Haney and Kathleen Reed, both of Kechi; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at the funeral home with burial following in Buckeye Cemetery, rural Kanopolis.
  Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Kanopolis, in c/o Parsons Funeral Home, P.O. Box 45, Ellsworth, Kan. 67439.
