The GFWC Sorosis Club met Jan. 11 with Susan Thielen, a Wilson Elementary School teacher, for a special technology program. Thielen showed members applications and computer programs that are in the classroom. Attendance and lunch count is done by computer and parents can check their child's work and grades. The e-book and inner-write board are used for math. Preparation for state assessments in math, reading, social studies and science are enhanced by using the computer. This informative presentation gave members a better understanding of how much teaching styles have changed since their school days.

Before the presentation the club met at Made From Scratch, Wilson, for a Dutch Treat and roll was answered by giving a school experience.

The Sixth District Music auditions will be Feb. 13 at Fort Hays State University. Members volunteered to assist Alice Whitmer, Sixth District chairman, with the auditions and provide cookies.

Officers were elected for the 2010-11 club year. Alice Whitmer, president; Janie Galliert, vice president; Alice Macek-Malir, secretary; and Lucille Janda, treasurer. The next meeting is Feb. 8 with hostess Rose Charvat, who will give a presentation on the Pregnancy Services Center. Members are asked to bring items to be donated to the center.
