BELOIT – The Lady Dragons lost a tight 38-33 girls basketball game against the St. John's of Beloit Lady Blujays, Jan. 26 in Beloit. The Lady Blujays currently are ranked 15th in 1A play by MaxPreps.

Taylor Schoenhofer and Justine Dlabal each split the bucket and eight points as Wilson edged up to an 8-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. However, St. John's scored 15 points to the Lady Dragons' 10 to take a 22-18 lead by the halftime buzzer.

Undaunted, the Lady Dragons battled back and scored 13 points to the Lady Blujays' nine to tie the game at the end of the third quarter. Dlabal made six of the Wilson points in the quarter. The last quarter belonged to St. John's as they held the Lady Dragons to just two points and scored seven to get the win. A key to the Lady Blujay's victory was their defensive play, as they kept Schoenhofer from scoring in the entire second half. They also held Wilson's talented freshman, Karlie Steinle, to six points in the entire game.

Dlabal led the Lady Dragons with 13 points followed by Schoenhofer with seven. Megan Zelenka had five points and Emily Beneda scored a bucket. The Lady Dragons shot four of eight free throws for 50 percent in the game.
