Fultons to celebrate 65th wedding anniversary
Last Updated: March 02, 2010

Ernest and Louise Fulton will celebrate 65 years together with an Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 14 at Eaglecrest Retirement Community, 1501 Magnolia, Salina. Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate with them.

Mr. Fulton had been serving in the military as an enlisted man training as a navigator on a B17 and upon earning a promotion to 1st Lieutenant, sent a wedding ring in the mail to Louise. She and her younger sister took the train from Kansas City, Mo. to Armore, Okla. Mrs. Fulton remembers wearing a green dress that day in honor of St. Patrick's Day. She did not realize that March 17, the day she diembarked from the train, was to be her wedding day. Thus, green was the color of her wedding dress.

Mr. Fulton was employed with the Kansas Department of Transportation from 1948 until his retirement in 1986. The couple lived in Ellsworth for 44 years. They were members of the First United Methodist Church and Lions Club, and were active in many other community activities through the years. Mrs. Fulton belongs to the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The couple moved into Eaglecrest Retirement Community March 30, 1995.

Their children hosting the open house are Ellen Barta of Virginia Beach, Va., David Fulton of Moose Pass, Alaska, and Lori Higgins of Fairmont, Minn. They have eight grandchildren, Scott Barta, Bethany Barta, Lynell Helms, Lorin Kain, Amy Fulton, Lea Fulton, Colton Higgins and Riley Higgins; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Barta, Hanna Barta, Kelsea Barta and Brodyn Barta.

Cards may be sent to 1501 E. Magnolia, Apt. 115, Salina, Ks. 67401.
The couple requests no gifts.
