The Carneiro Cafe MICHELLE VANEK Sunday January 10, 2010
Happy New Year ! The Carneiro Cafe is open with new coffee to try, some lovely tea, and lots of new friends. Ready for what looks to be a challenging start to 2010. Bring on the Caffeine...
The weather is something for the record books. I think that since Al Gore is in charge of "Global Warming", he really needs to "Move That Thermostat" !
Christmas Eve Services were held in Carneiro at The United Methodist Church. A number of our neighbors attended, it was a gift to have that time before Christmas to be with family and friends. What made this service special was the lightening of individual candles. With church lights dimmed, each of us handed off to light the others candle. There was a peaceful glow throughout the small country church. We sang the hymn, Silent Night. Pastor Steve provided us with a beautiful solo. This could have been a Norman Rockwell Christmas scene... Our daughter Sonja was here for 12 days and we had a great time catching up. She's an avid movie buff, we saw 5 movies while she was here. That's more than we've seen in the entire year.
She managed to get acquainted with the locals at Paden's (social director Mitch Kempe was on hand) thanks to her cousin Leah, who was home for Christmas from Manhattan, where she is finishing up this year and hoping to get into the work force. They really seemed to enjoy the Christmas Holidays...
Chad and Sara visited family and friends, even found time to catch colds. Santa was good to Brianna with lots of gifts. Their new puppy is doing well and so sweet...he's going to big ! They had the nicest decorations by far...loved the sleight !
Brad and Sandra Bradford celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary December 27, 2009. Definitely a huge accomplishment, but around Carneiro, 81 is the number to beat...
Bud and Lottie Turner were married May 26, 1929. That means this year they will have been married 81 years ! I had to Google it to find out what the symbol is...it's "Diamonds" all the way. One has to think just how remarkable this is. God Bless them and keep them safe and in good health !
New Year's came and went on a quite note. Which is fine. Slow to open after the busy holidays, the Cafe is home to more readers than once thought. A shout out to one reader from Arizona, thanks for the call and reading our blog...
For all who are interested go to 8wonders.org or call 620-585-2374 to vote for Mushroom State Park as one of the 8 Wonders Of kansas Geography...we'd like your vote !
Happy New Year !
Xin Nian Kuai Le, Scastny Novy Rok, Gott Nytt År, Gutes Neues Jahr, Feliz Año Nuevo,
