Mark R. Bennett (1971-2022)

Mark R. Bennett, 51, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday July 20, 2022, in Salina. He was born April 8, 1971, in St. Louis, Mo. He spent his childhood in Ellsworth, where he graduated from Ellsworth High School.

Mark used his skills from growing up in his family’s flooring business and had a career as a flooring installer. He had a great reputation for his workmanship clear up until he became ill and then had to retire.

He was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in April 2018. He continued to work until his body gave out on him in which he moved to Salina to live with his sister, Jennifer, and her family. He still had a will to live out life to the fullest, even with his limitations. His nieces Ashley, Alyssa and Arica all helped make this happen and took him anywhere from concerts to the top of Pikes Peak. He loved his family and was looking most forward to meeting his first grandchild Jaxxon in August.
He was blessed at the end stages with some great caretakers that went above and beyond to bring him comfort.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Reuben and Alma Bennett, Ellsworth, and maternal grandparents, Quentin and June Eklund, Ellsworth.
He is survived by his son; Quentin (Jocelyn) Bennett of Hutchinson, his parents; Richard, and Machelle Bennett of Abilene, his two sisters Jennifer (Todd) Fitzgerald, and Stephanie (Tom Forristal) Bennett, both of Salina and a brother; Matt Bennett of Colorado Springs, Colo., 10 nieces and nephews and eight great-nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2022, at Roselawn Memorial Park, 1920 E. Crawford, Salina.

Memorials can be made to the ALS Association in Kansas City, Kan.
