Claudette Sandra (Smith) Kraus (1941-2019)

Claudette Sandra (Smith) Kraus, 77, of Wilson, Kan. passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019 surrounded by her family. Sandra was born Dec. 19, 1941 in Waverly, La. to James R. Smith and E. Louise (Eubanks) Davis. She graduated from Tallulah High School in Tallulah, La. in May 1959 and attended Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss.
She married Anthony Wayne Peck on Dec. 14, 1963 in Warren County, Miss. She was remarried to Robert G. Kraus on April 22, 1993 in Ellsworth, Kan. Sandra retired from Ellsworth Correctional Facility and continued to work as a contract employee for many years. She received numerous citations in recognition excellence and commitment to her profession and fellow staff members.  
She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Kraus (Wilson, Kan.); children, J. Shelby Peck (Nannette) of Plaquemine, La., Terri (Peck) Purdum (Paul) of Topeka, Kan., Natalie Peck (Colin Read) of Plattsburgh, N.Y. and Michael Peck of Sierra Vista, Ariz.;  step-children, Roger Kraus of Tonganoxie, Kan. and Tim Kraus of Wilson, Kan. Sandra is also survived by siblings, Barry Smith (Carolyn) of Springfield, Mo. and Tom Smith (Joy) of Fulton, Ky., and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren
She is predeceased by James R. Smith (father), E. Louise Davis (mother), Bill Davis (step-father), James Roy Smith (brother), Thomas Anthony Peck (son), and Jason Peck (grandchild).
A celebration of life was held Saturday, July 6 at the Methodist Church Education Center, 2404 Ave F, Wilson, Kan.
