Eugene ‘Gene’ Papa Peterman, Sr.

Eugene “Gene” Papa Peterman, Sr., 79, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019 in Ellsworth. He was born March 27, 1940 in Lincoln County to Benjamin and Rosaline (Panzer) Peterman.

Gene was a longtime resident of Ellsworth where he married Aneta Jo Mitchell on April 22, 1968. He was a utilities construction superintendent working for Eatherly Constructors Inc. and Kiewit Corporation. He was also the former owner of the Pla-Mor pool hall in Ellsworth. Gene served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and was a member and current commander of the Ellsworth American Legion Post 174. He was also a faithful member and current church president of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Ellsworth.

Gene is survived by his daughters, Christina Willems (Rick) of Crescent City, Calif. and Carolyn Dawson (Billy Parsons) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sons, Eugene C. Peterman, Jr. (Ami) of Frisco, Texas and Steven Peterman (Erin) of Manhattan; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Sarah, Kurt, Chandra, Matthew, Joshua, Ryan, Aimee, Tyler, Kylie, Hayden, and Asher; 20 great- grandchildren; sister, Jessie Kralik of Ellsworth; and brothers, Wallace Murphy of Alton and Robert Peterman (Sheila) of Little River.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Aneta; twin sons, Benjamin Mitchell and Thomas Allen; and sister, Mary Lou Pflughoeft.

The funeral service was Monday, May 6, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ellsworth. Burial followed in the Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.
