Ida Mae Zvolanek, 97, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 in Ellsworth. She was born Aug. 15, 1921 in rural Ellsworth County to Fred E. and Matilda (Svoboda) Janda.

Ida married Emil Zvolanek Feb. 9, 1944, and within a few years they moved to Osborne, Kan., living and working in that community until 1984, calling Osborne home, and were beloved by all coworkers and friends there.

Ida’s path in life was taking care of others. Many were blessed by her kindness, and her humor, she loved to laugh. Ida served others as a Nurse Aide for 17 years at Parkview Manor in Osborne. Ida and Emil took in three children and raised them as if they were their own while in Osborne, befriending and caring for a young family in need, changing lives for the positive. After returning to Ellsworth in 1984 Ida continued to volunteer at the Good Samaritan, cooking for funeral services, helping at church events, and actively helping with her family and grandchildren for many years. Ida chose to make Good Sam her home in 2012. Ida was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Ellsworth and the church’s Ladies’ Guild.

Ida is survived by her daughter, Michelle Conway of Manhattan, Kan.; son, Raphael and wife Karin Yunk of Manhattan; grandchildren, Tyler and Alicia Conway, Solomon and Eleanor Ida; Melissa Yunk and Tyler; Tara and Matthew Engelbert, Emma and Maddox; Tracey and Arturo Perez and Jack; Tessa and Nathan Boyd and Connor; Benjamin Yunk; Thomas Conway; Sarah Yunk and fiancé, Carter Eatherly.
