Kathryn 'Kathy' McCreight (1941-2019)

Kathryn 'Kathy' McCreight, 78, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019 at her home in Ellsworth, Kan. She was born Jan. 16, 1941 in Wichita, Kan., the daughter of Allen Landrus and Margaret (Neff) Landrus. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Carolyn Landrus; and her daughter, Anne Wayne. 
She is survived by her husband John of Ellsworth; twin sons, John McCreight, Jr. of Southport, N.C. and Jeffrey McCreight of Surprise, Ariz.; grandchildren, Maria Wayne of Sterling, Va. and Kevin McCreight of Berlin, Germany; and her sister, Marvelyn Burnette of Wichita, Kan.
Kathy grew up in Wichita, Kan. and Salinas, Calif. where she graduated from Salinas High School in 1958. In May of 1962, she graduated from Sterling College in Sterling, Kan., where she met her husband, John. John and Kathy married Sept. 3, 1961 at Bethany United Presbyterian Church, Wichita. Wherever they lived, Kathy was always active in their church and community. Besides her love for traveling, Kathy also enjoyed travel photography, reading, sewing, needlework, arranging music, her elephant collection, and growing flowers.
Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.
The funeral service is at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7 at the First United Methodist Church, Ellsworth, with burial following at Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kanopolis United Methodist Church, Sterling College, Ellsworth Senior Center, or Hospice of Salina, in care of Parsons Funeral Home, PO Box 45, Ellsworth, Kan. 67439.
