Laura ‘Janie’ Wimmer (1954-2021)

Laura ‘Janie’ Wimmer, 67, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021 in Hays, Kan. She was born June 2, 1954 in Hardtner, Kan. to Mac and Margie (Potter) Rogers.
Janie married Dan ‘Digger’ Wimmer June 14, 1990 in Lakin, Kan. She was a marketing director for St. Catherine’s Hospital in Garden City, Kan. and sold advertising for the Garden City Telegram.

Janie is survived by her husband, Dan ‘Digger’ Wimmer of Bushton; sons, Jamie Martinez (Amanda)and their children Brevan, Gabby, Kenzi of Scott City, Kan. and Ross Geier (Sarah) and their children Gabe Cortez, Kason, Richard of Derby, Kan.; brothers, Jim Rogers (Kathy) of Gallatin, Mo. and Steve Rogers (Sharon) of Haysville, Kan.; step-sons, Dan Wimmer (Missy) and their children Dillon, Mason, Zoe of Bushton, Kan. and Josh Wimmer (Kayla) and their children Jaelynn, Madison, Remington of Bushton; step-daughter, Leisha Decker (James) and their children Seana, Azelin, Benton, Wyatt of Claflin, Kan.; and two great-grandchildren Andreas and Evelyn Cortez.

She was preceded in death by parents; son, Eric Geier; and sister, Maxine Rogers.

In life Janie found her joy laughing at the witty jokes of her children until she cried. She was the grandma that loved to spoil her grandchildren endlessly and encouraged them in all their dreams. With Dan, her husband and best friend, by her side they built a family through many ups and downs, that brought her the greatest pride.

Visitation is from 12-2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Salem Methodist Church, Bushton.

Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Salem Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
