Phyllis Joann Sauvain (1932-2020)

Posted in:

Phyllis Joann Sauvain, 88, passed away Friday, June 5, 2020, in Ellsworth. She was born Feb. 2, 1932 in Garfield Center, Kan. to Joseph “Joe” and Annetta “Nettie” Linquist. Phyllis married Merrill Sauvain in Clay Center July 11, 1955.

Phyllis worked at the Ellsworth hospital for several years. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where she found her faith, understanding, solace, and truth after the loss of her brother, William “Bill” Linquist during W.W. II.

She raised four great sons with Merrill that all respect her dearly. She made a great oyster stuffing and kept with her Swedish heritage by serving Ostakaka during holiday family get togethers. She will be sorely missed with her delightful smile, innocent charm, and girlish giggles. We love her very much, always.

Phyllis is survived by her sons, William “Bill” Sauvain of Superior, Neb., Rex Sauvain of Salina, and Rick Sauvain (Teresa) of Ellsworth; grandson, Chad Sauvain of St. Peters, Mo.; and sister-in-law, Pat Sauvain of Holt, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merrill; son, Randall “Randy” Sauvain; brother, William “Bill” Linquist; sister-in-law, Jean Peterson; brothers-in-law, Wally Sauvain and Niles Sauvain; and daughter-in-law, Mary Sauvain.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, with family present from 12-1 p.m.

Funeral service is at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the funeral home with burial following in the Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ellsworth County Healthcare Foundation, in care of Parsons Funeral Home, PO Box 45, Ellsworth, Kan. 67439.
