(1926-2019)

Robert Elmore Hulse, 92, passed away May 7, 2019 in Marquette, Kan. He was born Oct. 7, 1926 in Marquette to Cleophas and Vella (Roney) Hulse.

Robert married Ruth Vopat in St. Louis, Mo. on June 12, 1949. He was a lifetime resident of Ellsworth County where he was a postal carrier and a farmer and stockman. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ellsworth.

Robert served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Ellsworth American Legion Post 174 and Ellsworth VFW Post 6485. He also served as the 6th District Commander for the VFW from 1986-1987.

Robert is survived by his wife, Ruth Hulse of Ellsworth; son, Bobbie Hulse (Debbie) of McPherson; daughter, Wendy Hutchison ( Jay) of Littleton, Colo.; son, Collin Hulse (Kerry) of Parkville, Mo.; sister, Cleta June Newman of Greenwood, S.C.; grandchildren, Benjamin Hulse, Courtney Engberg-Hulse ( Jessica), Ryan Hutchison (Christi), Jenny Fabian ( JJ), and Gene Taylor (Rachelle); three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence; and infant son, Craig.

Visitation is from 9-11 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, at the First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth.

Funeral service is at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, at the church, with burial following in the Ellsworth Cemetery.
