Ronald Keith Rathbun (1929-2022)

Ronald Keith Rathbun, 93, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022, in Ellsworth, Kan. He was born Feb. 5, 1929 in Carneiro, Kan. to Cleo and Jessie (Johnson) Rathbun.

Ronald was a longtime resident of Ellsworth County where he was a farmer and stockman. After graduating from Geneseo High School, he served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of the Ellsworth American Legion Post 174.

Ronald married Betty L. Stockstill March 18, 1949 in Ellsworth. He was a member of the Ellsworth First United Methodist Church and the Ellsworth County Historical Society.

Ronald is survived by his wife Betty Rathbun of Ellsworth; sons, Randall Rathbun (Adriene) of Wichita, Kan., Cory Rathbun (Cheryl) of Ellsworth, and Clay Rathbun (Theresa) of Westwood, Kan.; daughter Lori Kerr (Rick) of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Zach, Josh, Kelsea, Brett, Jarrod, Mallory, Alex, Madeline, Daniel, and Bradley; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Noah; and sister Marsha Paull of Avalon, Catalina Island, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Tyler Rathbun.

A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 28, at the Ellsworth First United Methodist Church with inurnment following at Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery.
