Wesley James Schepmann (1986-2021)

Posted in:

Wesley James Schepmann was born July 23, 1986 in Topeka, Kan. and died Oct. 29, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Wesley is survived by his wife Courtneigh Hargis and their son Henry. He also leaves behind his parents, Paul and Karin Schepmann, Bushton Kan.; brothers Matthew (Leah) Schepmann of Kansas City, Kan. and Christopher (Erin) Schepmann of Leawood, Kan.; sister Elizabeth (Bart) Peintner of Denver, Colo.; six nephews; and his mother-in-law Dianne Moentnish.

He was preceded in death by his beloved Grandpa and Grandma, Orlan and Elizabeth Boyd.

Wesley graduated from Olathe South High School in 2004 after excelling in debate and forensics. As a teenager and into his 20s he quickly learned and thrived in the restaurant industry in the Kansas City area. In 2018, Wes relocated to join the love of his life, Courtneigh Hargis and Henry in Oklahoma City, Okla. There, he was employed by Hideaway Pizza, where he quickly rose to a manager role because of his strong leadership skills and attention to detail.

In the final months of his life, Wes bravely battled a cancer that overtook his body at the same time he even more bravely mended past hurts, made up for missed opportunities, and savored as much time as he could with loved ones. Wesley will be remembered as a proud dad of Henry, a loving partner to Courtneigh, and for the way he could fill a room with his easy smile.

Before his death, he requested that no memorial service be held. Those who wish to honor him may do so with a donation to the American Kidney Fund.
